  • Alteryx is not available for Mac but there are plenty of alternatives that runs on macOS with similar functionality. The most popular Mac alternative is R (programming language), which is both free and Open Source. If that doesn't suit you, our users have ranked 37 alternatives to Alteryx and 12 are available for Mac so hopefully you can find a suitable replacement.
  • Alteryx Designer delivers a repeatable workflow for self-service data analytics that leads to deep insights in hours, not weeks! Our data analysis software combines data preparation, data blending, & advanced statistical functions to find game changing insights.
  • .yxdb (Alteryx Database) The Alteryx database format (.yxdb) is a file type that can hold data fields, values, and spatial objects. The.yxdb format is the most efficient file type for reading and writing in Alteryx because it has no size limit, is compressed for maximum speed, and includes additional metadata that references the source of the data and how the data was created.

Version 11.7.4.37815

Release Date: November 28, 2017

Download Alteryx Designer - Software solution that allows you to process data, it's both an editor and an engine and it has the ability to process all sort of complex data.

New FeaturesTool Enhancements
  • The Visual Layout tool has been enhanced so that you can resize a table or map reporting element after it is placed on the report page, and immediately visualize the change.

This tool is in the Laboratory category and is not for production use. It may have documented known issues, may not be feature complete, may not be backwards compatible, and is subject to change.

  • Data profiling in the Browse tool now uses Plotly to display charting information. Users can save a chart as a .png file.
Enhanced Data Sources

Alteryx now supports Microsoft SQL Server ODBC driver versions 11, 13 and 13.1 (previously named SQL Server Native Client) for standard and In-DB connections.

SDK Support
  • The HTML GUI SDK has been updated and now includes a new list box and radio button widget, as well as improved documentation with additional resources to build custom tools.
  • The Python SDK (beta) introduces the ability to create new Alteryx tool run-times with the Python programming language. The Python SDK is only available for admin installations.
Additional Enhancements
  • You can now create multiple connections between tools simultaneously. Select one or more tools and right-click to select View Possible Connections.
  • A macro in a workflow now automatically updates when changes to the macro are saved.
  • A macro tool that has an HTML interface (such as: Linear Regression) now displays a macro indicator when placed on the canvas. Right-click the tool to open and modify the macro. Interface changes made to a macro with an HTML interface must also be made to the corresponding HTML GUI file.
  • Administrators can now install .yxi tools for all users of a machine at once.
  • When opening Designer, you will see a second tab with a Learning Guide of Alteryx resources.
  • A new Help option in User Settings allows you to select a language other than English for the online Help.
  • Alteryx now shows an error when a network issue causes an incomplete data transfer.
  • Multiple one-tool examples were added:
    • Action
    • Check Box
    • Date
    • Drop Down
    • Text Box
    • Distance
    • Dynamic Replace
  • Decision Tree models using the C5.0 algorithm can now be used with the Score tool.
  • The Field Summary tool has been updated to:
    • Show a true percentage in the summary statistics Percent Missing column for DateTime fields.
    • Support non-Latin characters.
  • The Spline Model tool has been updated to allow the number of folds per cross validation to be greater than 1 fold.
  • The In-DB version of the Linear Regression tool now accommodates a dataset containing only numeric predictors.
Known and Fixed Issues

Description

Issue Status

Performance is now improved for the SharePoint List tools.

Fixed

An issue with some SQL queries not showing in the SQL Editor has been resolved.

Fixed

A misleading variable importance plot has been removed from the interactive visualization in the Linear Regression tool.

Fixed

An issue where two records were returned when scoring a single record from the Boosted Model tool has been fixed.

Fixed

Standard Deviation is now correctly labeled in the Distribution Analysis tool static report.

Fixed

The Boosted Model tool (both standard and In-DB) now properly treats integer target variables as strictly numeric.

Fixed

The maxNumBins variable in the In-DB versions of the Boosted Model, Decision Tree, and Forest Model tools has been corrected to be an integer, as decimal values are not valid for that variable.

Fixed

An issue where if you selected a Browse tool, the Profile tab might display “Please wait…Rendering” continuously has been fixed.

Product Compatibility and Version Support Policy

A Code Page (also referred to as Character Set or Encoding) is a table of values where each character has been assigned a numerical representation. A code page enables a computer to identify characters and display text correctly.

Alteryx supports many code pages that can be selected when inputting and outputting data files via the Input Data Tool and Output Data Tool, or when converting data types using the Blob Convert Tool. Additionally, the ConvertFromCodepage and ConvertToCodepage functions, available within tools that have an expression editor, can use code page identifiers to convert strings between code pages and Unicode® encoding, the universal character-encoding standard for all written characters as created by the Unicode Consortium.

Alteryx assumes that a wide string is a Unicode® string and a narrow string is a Latin 1 string. if you convert a string to a code page, it will not display correctly. Therefore, code pages should only be used to override text encoding issues within a file. Code pages can be different on different computers, or can be changed for a single computer, leading to data corruption. For the most consistent results, use Unicode® encoding, such as UTF-8 or UTF-16, instead of a specific code page, which allows different languages to be encoded in the same data stream.

UTF-8 is the most portable and compact way to store any character and is used most often. Both UTF-8 and UTF-16 are variable-width encoding, but UTF-8 is compatible with ASCII and the files tend to be smaller than with UTF-16.

For more information on code pages, see the MSDN Library.

These code page identifiers can be used with the ConvertFromCodepage and ConvertToCodepage functions. See Functions
